Terrific Dancing For Toddlers – Yo Gabba Gabba

My students have been bugging me for Yo Gabba Gabba since  last year. For the longest time I didn’t know what they were talking about or what the big thing about it was. What I know for sure is any one under the age of 3 is crazy in love with Yo Gabba Gabba. It is especially a hit with the 18 mos.-3 year olds who are mesmerized by this program.

I was first introduced to Yo Gabba Gabba by some friends of ours daughter, Kelani.  At the time Kelani was an adorable and active 2 year old who kept her parents and us busy running around our home.  But when it was time for Yo Gabba Gabba all of that running around ceased. I was amazed, she just stopped as if frozen in time. I mean nothing moved she stood transfixed by the television. At the time I didn’t think any thing of it since I was enjoying the company of her parents and other siblings.

It wasn’t until a few months later I had two 2 year old nephews over for Thanks giving that it happened again. Wow I thought there is something to this Yo Gabba Gabba thing because those boys were in flight running around and around and around the house.  We have an open floor plan on the first floor so there were no obstacles in their path and they were having a ball. The only thing that stopped their running was Yo Gabba Gabba.

After watching it myself I understand why. It is a wonderfully done show that is specifically geared to 2 year olds. It is geared to their attention span and flow. It is very simple and acknowledges children individually and celebrates their uniqueness. It encourages learning and physical expression  through my favorite thing dance. The moves are simple and age appropriate and my favorite FUN!

The shows format changes frequently enough to keep children engaged and interested with out over stimulating or overwhelming them. It covers socialization skills and learning, learning of basic early childhood education concepts as well as respect and appreciation for one another. It is a well put together show that your 2 year old will love.
