Self Care:Calling Back The Pretty Me

You may think I’m talking about myself and I am. I am also talking to all the hot mamas out there who have gotten so used to being a mommy to someoneĀ  and just throwing themselves together on a daily basis. We are so focused and determined to be a good mother, good wife or mate, good PTSO parent, good church member and on and on and on that we forget about one important thing, being a”good me.”

I was reminded of this fact when I went to one of my schools today to handle some business matters. Since I didn’t have any classes I was not dressed down ( sweats). I had decided, as I was getting dressed this morning that I was going to have a “Pretty Day”. Have you ever had one of those. A day where you are just going to look good for yourself. No you are not going to work, out on a date, hanging out with the girls, going to a wedding or special event where you have to dress up. You are just going about your day running errands and handling your business. The only difference is the care you took in putting together your outfit, doing your hair and putting on make up.

This decision to be a “Pretty Me” today started way before the showering and dressing up. It started out by taking time in the morning to do the things that make me feel wonderful. I love waking up and just being grateful to be alive and to still have an opportunity to make my life and the lives of my family, and others better. I talk to God out loud and thank Him for all of my blessings. After that I do a 7 minute Qi Gong video on You Tube called ” 7 minutes of magic by Lee Holden and then a 17 minute one by Mingtown called “Daily 17 Minute Qi Gong. I also do a 6 minute ab routine by Denise Austin on dvd. After this morning routine I am feeling great! It sets up a great foundation for the day.

I feel the wanting to look pretty was just a result of feeling good on the inside. When we feel good about ourselves from the inside it quite naturally shows up on the outside. When we nurture and take care of our entire selves body, mind and spirit, we are more balanced and better equipped to take on the challenges of the day. It is my goal to have more pretty days and to do what it takes to make that happen.

I want to encourage you to do the same, create days where you feel absolutely wonderful! You are smiling from the inside out. You will look delicious and people will notice. My director thought that I had on make up, all I had on was lip gloss nothing else. What she was witnessing was radiance coming from the inside. So do something that makes you feel wonderful. Something that makes you feel loved, cared for, nurtured and beautiful. Do it just for you no one else. And as the Loreal commercial says ” You’re worth it!” I would love to hear from you and find out what you do to call back the pretty you. Please leave a comment in the form of a reply below. Have a beautiful and wonderful day!

So true! When constantly on the go, there’s seemingly such little time for us to pamper ourselves. One of my favorite “all about me” routines is a coconut oil rubdown followed by a healthy spritz of a flowery fragrance. Having soft skin and a sweet scent makes me feel beautiful every time.

Cat girllllllllllllllll!!!!! So sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Thank you so much for sharing your “all about me” routine. You are really on to something Cat with that coconut oil. Because of this very same tip you gave me so long ago my skin is baby bottom soft. I love the way it feel and so does Harold. This is one beauty product I try to not run out of because it is an essential!!! I also love smelling good. This morning when I was putting on scented lotion I just stopped and took a deep breath and inhaled the delicious smells. For those few seconds I was in Heaven. I can’t remember the last time I did that but for those few seconds I was in another place. I made a vow to myself that I’m going to do this more often. Thanks so much again for commenting and come back to visit! :-)
